Full Abdominoplasty

(Tummy Tuck)

An abdominoplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the front of the abdominal wall. A full abdominoplasty involves taking at least all the tissue from the belly button down to the bikini line and repositioning the belly button. It is often done with liposuction to the flanks to improve the overall appearance and silhouette.

It’s a useful procedure for patients who feel that they have loose skin with or without excess fat on the abdomen, and patients who have a lot of overhang following weight loss or pregnancy. It gives the abdomen a flatter and tighter appearance.

In patients who just have a small amount of excess fat but firm, elastic skin, it may be better to get liposuction, as this reduces the scarring. Also, if the problem is only at the bottom of the abdomen, just above the top of the bikini line, again less scarring may be achieved with a mini-abdominoplasty.
